On Saturday 20th April, join arctic flight adventurer Sacha Dench - known as the ‘Human Swan’ - as we learn of her astonishing journey.

Sacha paramotored over arctic tundra from Russia to the UK, following the Bewick’s swans along their migrational flight path, crossing 11 countries to discover why their numbers were in decline and having remarkable encounters with people along the way.

The Flight of the Swan is a story of astonishing bravery and marvellous adventure. It is a story of hope for our planet that will touch even hardened hearts.

Screened amongst the backdrop of internationally acclaimed artist Kurt Jackson's latest blockbuster exhibition The Cornish Seal, we will be screening this fascinating film followed by a Q&A between Sacha Dench and Kurt Jackson.

Sacha is a passionate conservationist and UN Ambassador of Migratory Species. She has devised innovative methods to raise awareness of the threats and potential solutions to migratory species and the global climate crisis.

In 2017, she became known as the ‘Human Swan’ after her epic 7,000km flight in a paramotor from the Arctic to the UK, to tackle the decline in Bewick's Swans. The project won Environmental Campaign of the Year, Sacha achieved the Guinness World Record for crossing the Channel in a paramotor and became the first woman in 50 years to win the Britannia Trophy for an outstanding feat of aviation.

The Flight of the Swan has recently been awarded best environmental film at Toronto International women Film Festival.
